STIHL is the only chainsaw manufacturer to offer the STIHL Quickstop® Plus additional braking system. This allows the chain brake to be manually activated from the rear handle. This feature is designed to engage when the operator’s right hand completely releases the rear handle, stopping the chain within seconds.

The advantage: STIHL Quickstop® Plus additional braking feature works in any operating position – without requiring additional levers or handles. It helps increase comfort when working on jobs that require the chain to be stopped frequently, e.g. to remove branches or move to another spot. STIHL chainsaws with STIHL Quickstop® Plus feature are indicated by the letter "Q" in the model name.

• The additional braking system enables the chain brake to be activated quickly in virtually any operating position.
• The chain brake brings the saw chain to a complete stop when the throttle trigger lockout is released.

This is how it works:

• Releasing the brake
  Press the throttle trigger lockout. The brake band releases the clutch drum and the saw chain can rotate. Press the throttle trigger lockout.
• Braking
  Release the rear handle. The brake band tightens around the clutch drum and the saw chain comes to a stop within seconds.
