How to Release Line in AutoCut® (TapAction™) Cutting Head
STIHL trimmers can help you cut tough jobs down to size and save you time, but fresh trimmer line is a must when you want to get a precise cut. Watch this how-to video and follow these steps to properly advance trimmer line from your STIHL trimmer.
- Advancing Trimmer Line: To release line from this style of trimmer head, you MUST Run the unit at normal operating speed (full throttle) while tapping the head on a hard, flat surface. Running the unit at full throttle is the most critical component in ensuring the trimmer line is advanced successfully.
- Tap Head: Tap the head of the unit on a hard, flat surface like your driveway, the sidewalk or another solid surface.
- Proper Line Length: With the engine running at full throttle, tap it on the ground once – fresh line will be advanced via centrifugal force, and the limiter on the deflector will trim it to the right length.
- Clean Up: Using a blower, clear debris from the sidewalk or your driveway.
